From September 26^th  to October 30^th 2011, Danang PHA has deployed communication program on hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) in the child care home facilities in five districts of the Da Nang city.

Through monitoring and statistics of the Center for Preventive Medicine, till September 25th 2011, the city has recorded 440 cases of HFMD. To repel the epidemic, Danang PHA has focused on communication on HFMD with the aim of improving knowledge of recognizing signs of illness, ways of transmission and preventive measures for child care givers in the child care home facilities; helped caregivers know how to use Chloramine B to sterilize classes, objects, toys ... Moreover, child care facilities were handed out the leaflets on HFMD and instruction using Chloramine B, the steps taken to sterilize houses and utensils, toys, gloves and Chloramine B for child care home facilities. The Danang PHA members also conducted a survey on the knowledge and practice of caregivers on HFMD identification, the common complication and promptly covered the misunderstanding knowledge and answered the caregivers’ questions.

By the end of Oct 2011, communication program  had covered more than 300 child care home facilities. The program is one of the provincial communication program funded by the Atlantic Philanthropies.
