Issuing two Resolutions on caring for the elderly and promoting their roles PDF   E-mail

Recently, the Executive Boards of the Communist Party Committees of Tien Hai town and Phuong Cong commune have issued 2 Resolutions on caring for the elderly and promoting their roles.

Based on the Elderly Law, the directive made by the government which guides the implementation of the Law and the results of the initial report made by Vietnam Public Health Association (VPHA) on the elderly’s participation, Tien Hai PHA proposed Directive 03 to the district Party Committee on enhancing the implementation of the Elderly Law and promoting the elderly’s roles in the district. The directive also instructs the Executive Boards of the Communist Party Committees of Tien Hai town and Phuong Cong commune to develop and issue their specialized Resolutions on implementing the elderly health promotion program in their local areas.  

 

Meeting on building content of thematic resolutions on elderly health care
The Resolutions mentions a number of important points such as evaluating the elderly care and the promotion of their roles for the past years; determining on the orientations, goals and measures for local elderly activities; implementing the Resolutions on the elderly in the period of 2011-2015.

Based on these Resolutions, People’s committees and other social and political organizations will develop their action plans integrating  with the elderly’s activities.

 

 
Strengthening the communication on the prevention of dioxin exposure through food in Da Nang PDF   E-mail

In 2010, VPHA implemented actively the intervention program on reducing dioxin exposure for local residents in the 4 wards in Da Nang through various communication activities.

The program’s counselors provided over eleven thousand households with information, leaflets and pictures, conducted nineteen broadcasts and forty five ward meetings. These activities were closely and strictly monitored. Thus, VPHA could timely provide its technical and professional support.
 
Painting guide the prevention of dioxin exposure through food in the family kitchen
For the first months of 2011, VPHA has continued to provide more posters on  preventing dioxin exposure through food for households whose posters was coming off due to bad weather condition. Through this activity, those households will be reminded the prevention measures. Other 200 new households have also been counseled since the beginning of February.

Overall these effective communication activities have greatly contributed to improving the residents’ knowledge on the measures to prevent dioxin exposure through foods. When the intervention program finishes, VPHA will do the post-intervention survey to evaluate the change of knowledge, attitude and practice of residents in preventing dioxin exposure through foods.
